"Oh, what a bitch!...," began the critique of the judge who awarded Autumn BOW at the '99 Saluki Club of America National Specialty. Autumn earned half of her conformation title from the puppy class, finished at the National SCOA Specialty in an entry of 460+ Salukis, has numerous BOB wins, 2 Best in Specialties (one from the Veteran class) and two Group I’s as a Special. She earned all four field titles in the same year and has qualified for the Grand Course all 3 years run in open field competition. She finished her CD with 6 qualifying scores, including 2 Specialty High in Trials and was the ‘03 recipient of ASA’s Rancho Gabriel and Chamois trophies for excellence in obedience performance. Noted for her outstanding movement, overall balance and classic type, we could not ask for a more loving companion. |

Ch. Timaru Valkyrie of Jazirat
"I wish all Salukis were like this. As an import he must be an acqisition for the breed in this country. Graceful in appearance, perfectly balanced, with a soft silky textured coat he looked a picture and his smooth easy gait was flawless." Leonard Pagliero, Hound Show 2000 |
English breeders Joanne and Paul Mahon and Ken
and Diana Allan (Jazirat) reserved a puppy from Espirit's first litter
a year before they were born. Exported to England at the age of 18
months,
Kyrie is only the third American-bred Saluki ever to achieve an English
championship. He won his first CC under hound specialist Carla Molinari
at the Hound Ass. of Scotland. His second CC and BOB in an entry of 110
Salukis, was awarded by Nick Bryce-Smith at Houndshow 2000. He went on
to win Reserve Best in Show from an entry of over 2650 hounds under
judge
Leonard Pagliero. His progeny are making their mark in England,
Scandanavia, Holland, Canada and the
U.S. In 2004, Kyrie's son won the C.C. at the world famous Crufts
show and in 2006, another son repeated the achievement. Kyrie has been
awarded Top Sire in England by the Saluki or Gazelle
Hound
Club for the excellence of his offspring for 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and
2006, an unprecedented achievement. Owned by Joanne Mahon, Holland. |

Vaya followed her sister's example by taking
Winner's Bitch at the SCOA National Speciality in an entry of 480
Salukis in 2001
and then finished her title at the 2001 SCOA Western Regional
Specialty.
Her Canadian title was earned with a BOS (over Specials) at the Saluki
Club
of Canada Specialty. She followed this win by taking Best of Breed at
the
SCOC Specialty the following year. Vaya was #1 Saluki in both the
Canadian
Amateur Racing Association's Straight and Oval Races in 1999. She was
bred
to Ch. Baklava's Rafi Rasil of Khiva in 2001 and has several champion
offspring
to her credit from this litter. Owned by Lin Jenkins Hawkyard,
Beeton,
Ontario, Canada. |

Plum has more than exceeded every expectation we
had for her. She acquired her first two points her first show weekend
when she was 7 months old. She followed that with back-to-back 5 point
majors at
the Detroit KC TSE her second weekend out when she was 10 months. She
took
a year off to grow up and on her first outing of 1999, placed 2nd in a
large
and very competitive class at the Nationals. She then finished in
style
at her very next show with a 4 point major. Owned by Jaqi Terhaar,
Chicago,
Ill. |

Vivia finished her championship at 16 months of
age and began her Specials career at the age of 2½ years.
Her light, floating gait complements her sound and balanced
conformation and she
is a joy to behold whether in the ring or in the backyard. The year
2000 brought
her 17 BOB's and a Group II. In 2002, Vivia was bred to her sire, Ch.
Timaru
Zephyrus, CD, SC, which produced a litter of 1, Ch. Legend's Winged
Messenger,
owned and bred by Debbie Sanford. In 2003, Vivia produced a litter of
four
sired by Int'l Ch. Baghdad's Globetrotter. Owned by Debbie Sanford,
Susan
Salladay and Lesley Brabyn. |

Jasper finished his championship by winning
back-to-back 4 point majors at TSE supported events. Not a dog to rest
on his laurels, he was the subject of a book celebrating the Saluki
called Putting on the Dog; Digital Photographs and Canine Wisdom,
published by Wave Publishing in December, 2000. Sound, elegant and
glamorous,
Jasper's joie d'vivre makes him a shining star whether on the
beach,
in the show ring or on our couch. Owned by Carol Doumani, Venice,
CA. |
